Peter Lopez, Senior Pastor

Peter Lopez, senior pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church, Peoria, Arizona, was born in McAllen, Texas.  He received his early schooling in public schools in Edinburg, Texas.

1988 was a turning point in Pastor Lopez' life.  It was then, at the age of eight years old, that he trusted Christ as his personal Savior.  Christian parents and a faithful pastor were the major influences helping him understand his need to receive Christ as Savior.  Upon graduating from high school, Pastor Lopez attended and played basketball for a public university in north Texas.  It was here that God began doing a great work within his heart.

Sensing God's call to ministry, Pastor Lopez ended up at Indiana Baptist College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible in 2003.  He received a Master of Ministry degree from Pensacola Theological Seminary in Pensacola, Florida, in December 2015.

Pastor Lopez was called to Maranatha Baptist Church in 2015.  He loves the church and desires a close-knit family atmosphere with a passion for serving others.

Pastor Peter Lopez married the former Denise Maddox of Bedford, Indiana in 2001; they have two children, Petey IV and Josie.
